Willie Mays Hand Signed 'The Catch' 16x20 Photograph
In an out so famous it is simply known as “The Catch,” Willie Mays caught a seemingly impossible drive to deep centerfield. In the first game of the 1954 World Series, the New York Giants and Cleveland Indians were tied in the top of the 8th inning.
Then, with two runners on, first baseman Vic Wertz whacked the ball nearly 450 feet from home plate. With his eye on the ball, Mays raced after the ball and caught it over his left shoulder just in time to whirl around and throw it to second, quickly extinguishing the Indians’ hopes for a victory.
The Giants then won the game in the 10th inning and swept the Indians in the Fall Classic.
This awesome 16x20 photograph of his famous catch is signed by Willie Mays. A Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity is included.
